Replacing the puller rather than the whole zipper is a pretty straightforward and simple task and quite a clever concept if we might add.

Like so many other TUMI cases, Alpha 3 is also equipped with a TUMI Tracer, an integrated USB power port and dual integrated TSA locks for both the top and the main openings. 

But let’s take a peek at the inside, shall we? Although compact, this suitcase still packs a substantial amount, especially given the 2” zipper expansion system. The interior boasts a built-in garment bag that can fit a single suit or a dress, multiple separate compartments for better organization, a mesh zip pocket with a removable USB cable and a hanger bracket. 

Buyers agree that this is a perfect carry-on for 2-3 business trips and shorter weekend getaways. If you’re a light packer, then you just might get away with taking Alpha 3 for a slightly longer journey abroad. However, although it is a high-end piece of luggage, some users are discouraged by the steep price tag, claiming that splurging so much on a carry-on case is not something they could get behind.

We’re all well-accustomed to TUMI’s ability to combine clever designs with practical features into a single case. Despite its enormous size, the V4 is far from heavy. Weighing a trifling 11 pounds, this case is quite lightweight compared to many other sizable suitcases out on the market. Even when packed to the brim, the case will maintain its feathery design allowing you to handle it with ease. Even the four dual recessed wheels will not compromise the sleek and effortless design of the case - on the contrary, their presence will allow you to glide unphased through airports, hotel lobbies, and cobbled streets.

Certainly, the most notable feature of the V4 is its roomy interior. With a 91L capacity, this beauty will hold pretty much anything you throw at it - or better yet - in it. This case can easily be used by two people at the time, eliminating the need for an additional case. The inside contains one separate zip pocket, as well as a dual compartment zip pocket for additional items, a hanger bracket, and compression straps to hold all your items in place.

Allow us to take you on a voyage through some of the most practical features of this handy little case. The Voyageur stands out for one simple reason - it has an innovative front lid that allows you to access and separate your items as you please. However, several users have found that the top of the case lacks an internal frame making it slouch over when something is placed on top.

First up, the Tegra Lite is one of the rare hard-side cases that has a front pocket where you can store easy-access items, which is a positive for us and many users about. Staying on the exterior, the suitcase is available in a couple of variants and both are aesthetically quite stunning. The corners are well-padded and some elements have a nice leather finish which is the exclamation point in this range. There are plenty of handles all round so picking this case up from the carousel is a cinch.

The interiors are lined and designed well with plenty of organizational room and mesh straps for keeping your folded clothes in place. There is a removable garment sleeve and hanger brackets for your suits if you decide to use this for longer business trips. This case also uses dual wheels like many others on our list and the spinners (you guessed it) do roll quite well. The handles can be extended to different sizes, although we found them to be a tad thin for a case of this size.

Long-term durability is always the issue with polycarbonate and ABS cases which is why it’s quite common to see many folks recommend a soft-side option for prolonged longevity. This suitcase is relatively light compared to other TUMI cases and still a tad heavier than many mainstream options that are designed to last just for the medium term.

A couple of issues with the Tegra Lite that tends to make users think is the price and the fact that the exterior still accumulates scratch marks. Despite being structurally robust, aesthetically it can show wear like regular ABS/polycarbonate options. The glossy finish on the TUMI Tegra Lite holds it back on that front. Aesthetics and quality are some of TUMI’s main strong points but when one of them is compromised the high price is something that can become an issue.

Nevertheless, it possesses a familiar stylish design we often see on TUMI bags and is available in five different colors - silver, purple, navy, blush, and black.

Don’t be discouraged by its sturdy exterior feature though, the Latitude is specifically designed for convenient, lightweight mobility, making it super lightweight even when fully packed.

The exterior is also reinforced with a 3-stage telescoping handle made from aircraft-grade aluminum, making it super sturdy without adding too much additional weight on the luggage itself. Four lightweight spinning wheels offer a smooth ride and the integrated low-profile TSA lock secures your items throughout your journey. The omega closure system is there to reduce the risk of any damage to the zippers.

There is a zip entry to the main compartment, which features two separate packing zones. With a 64L capacity, this case is ideal for shorter trips, but the practical interior layout allows you to organize your items with ease and comfort. The mesh tie-down straps keep your items in place and there is also a hanger bracket to hang additional items. The hanger itself is sold separately.

Aside from two roomy main compartments, the interior also has two zip pockets and a mesh zip pocket ideal for smaller trinkets.

Taking everything into consideration, this case is definitely a worthy investment. However, the price tag might be a turning point for some, especially bearing in mind that the Latitude is a medium-sized checked suitcase for week-long trips.

To some, the merge extended trip case may be underwhelming design-wise but its highly functional. This is something we liked very much. This is also one of the lighter TUMI’s around, coming in at just over 13 pounds. Considering its size, weight and practical elements the Merge is perfect for those looking for pure functionality and the quality that comes with the TUMI brand.

The suitcase is made from ballistic nylon and is expandable as well which is quite rare for a 31” suitcase. The handle does seem a little thin compared to the sheer size of the luggage but it definitely holds up and enables the suitcase to roll easily. The handle is adjustable and is made from lightweight aluminum.

There are plenty of zippered compartments including zippered access to the main compartment itself. There are a couple of mesh pockets on the lid of the suitcase, hanging zip compartments, hanger brackets and compression straps too. The mesh compression straps do a better job of keeping your clothes in place when compared to the simple buckle straps seen on most luggage on the market. The two easy-access pouches in the front are also quite handy.

Overall, it’s hard to go wrong when opting for the TUMI Merge, especially for extended trips. The carry-on version is also something we recommend looking at if you want your TUMI to be a few pounds lighter than the ones we’ve gone with above.
